On October 11th, Bay High Model United Nations held its first conference for new members. Under the debate topic of child labor and its legality, pairs of students represented a country’s interests in a simulated United Nations environment. Challenges for the new members included: staying on their country’s policy without personal bias, following professional parliamentary procedure, and being persuasive in debate. As students go to more conferences, they will deepen their debate and public speaking skills, which are valuable qualities in most professions. Under leaders, Anna Walker, Danielle Cooke, Emma Legeay, Ava Walker, and Charlie Adams, the whole team looks forward to this year’s conferences.
