The Rockets soundly beat the Invaders last night, October 4th at Byers Field.  This was Bay’s second Thursday night game of the season, their undefeated recorded proving that they can still fire on all cylinders with a shortened recovery period.  The Wolfpack had suffered numerous injuries from the previous weeks battle against Rocky River, but their spots were covered by several underclassmen who were ready for the challenge.

Starting quarterback Logan LaMere (‘20) was 4/11 on pass completions, totaling 80 yards.  He had 3 touchdown passes, the longest for 50, and 1 interception. His passes were to Joe Galati (‘20), Francis Sherman (‘19), and Max Showalter (‘19).  Nick Buttari (‘21) lead the backfield in the absence of Andrew Veverka (out with an injury) with 9 carries and 52 yards on the ground. Fullback Galati had 40 rushing yards, and 1 touchdown completion in the first quarter.

Bay’s defense was a force to be reckoned with, holding the Invaders scoreless for much of the night until the JV defenders were put in.  Jared Riess (‘19) had an interception, returned for a touchdown, as did Henry Rankin (‘20). The defensive line held the invaders to just barely 50 rushing yards throughout the game.

Bay High (7-0) now preps for next Friday’s game against Elyria Catholic High School (5-2).  This will be one of the last two home games played at Bay High Memorial Stadium. Game time is 7:00 pm on Friday, October 13th.
